As we’re preparing for the New Year, we’re excited to present our free 2018 calendar to you!
What you can declutter easily
This year is almost over and many of my clients and friends are looking forward to 2018. Some are taking a few days off, spending time with the family and relaxing after a few busy weeks at work. Isn’t it amazing how we can be so focused and productive just to meet the weekly, monthly or even annual targets? Wouldn’t it be great to always be that driven?
Getting rid of unnecessary items in your home and office can give you that focus! Creating space, you see what really matters, what’s truly urgent and you can act accordingly, saving you time and energy. So what do we recommend you declutter in the final days of 2017? Here’s our list of 44 items you can easily let go:
We encourage the nation to get organised during NOW!
APDO Association of Professional Declutterers & Organisers is running the 4th annual NOW National Organising Week this Autumn. Through social media, blogs and partnerships, the association will motivate and inspire people just like you to organise their homes and workplaces. We are taking part in the campaign and bring it to this region!
Ever felt the weight of your stuff?
Has too much stuff ever drained you? We all read about the weight of clutter on our lives and it’s true. Peter Walsh, the Australian organiser and close friend of Oprah, wrote a book on losing the clutter and shedding pounds off your body. Believe it or not, this is what I experienced over the last few weeks too.
Tackle your linen closet this weekend
Do you dread opening your linen closet? Are you afraid of your bedsheet falling on to you when opening that door? Don’t even know where the matching pillow case is for those sheets? It’s time to clear, clean and organise your linen closet!
Fighting clutter the Feng Shui way
Have you ever been to a Feng Shui course? I was very excited when I arrived at one organised by Expat Woman last week. Mostly women (go figure) attended what provided to be an insightful session. Dr. Padmaja Yadav from Vaastu for Art of Living not only gave practical tips of how to decorate your home. She also spent time talking about clutter. Who knew that philosophy which started around 3500 BC would also focus on clutter?
How are you getting on with this challenge?
On 1 March, Lent started and so did our 40 bags in 40 days challenge. For the 40 days of Lent, you’d declutter one shelf, drawer or other area in your home per day. You don’t think it’s possible?! I challenge you! You can do it!
Get ready! This Saturday, 11 March, is “Clear Your Clutter” Day. It’s your day to get rid of some of the stuff you no longer want or need. Whether you take this day and start with a shelf, focus on a room or continue on your decluttering journey, it doesn’t matter. What’s important is that you start.
The ultimate Spring challenge
Ash Wednesday (1 March) is the beginning of lent and Christians are giving up something. Lent lasts for 40 days until Maundy Thursday (the Thursday before Easter) and is generally seen as a period reflection, self-examination but also improvement. Some Christians are thus giving up an indulgence like chocolate, while others give up a bad habit like smoking. Why not use lent 2017 to participate 40 bags in 40 days, regardless of your religious beliefs?
Make a start to create your dream home
Talking to a colleague this afternoon, we both wished we were at home, wrapped up in a blanket with a hot drink, reading a book. The weather is just not inviting us to spend more time outside. So why not make use of these cooler temperatures (yes, 20 C/68 F are cool) and organise your home?
