Can you believe that it’s already the second week of August? Where did summer go? Or are we not allowed to ask these questions these year? After all, how many of us were able to travel and enjoy their summer holidays? So with that the big question is: Are you ready for a new school year? A year (or at least semester) of remote learning ?

Probably never. That’s why we recognised the achievements of working parents and shared our tips for working parents on a webinar with The Coach Link and Pam Durant last week.
Have you ever worked with any astronauts? Well, I haven’t and it was the first time I met an astronaut at this year’s Emirates Literature Festival. And what a session it was! So witty, so insightful and so inspiring.
Hazzaa AlMansoori was the first UAE astronaut who went into space in September 2019. During the mission, he spent eight days on the International Space Station (ISS). His backup, Sultan AlNeyadi, and Saeed Karmostaji, Manager at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre, joined Hazzaa in the one-hour-long session. All three certainly know to dream big!

Expat assignments are a great opportunity for advancing professionally, and also for personal development: you get to travel, to learn a new language and to become familiar with a different culture. The perks associated with it are also generally pretty nice: a good salary, transportation and housing provided, school tuition and spousal allowance included, language tutoring and so on.
It’s no wonder, under these circumstances, that most people jump at the prospect of an expat assignment.
How often do you try something new? My mother is normally our jam supplier. She makes all kinds from regular strawberry jam, mixed fruits of the forest to some with a little bit extra. There are some many different sized jars in our home. It’s incredible! Now was my time to make jam and boy, it taught me a lot!

So let’s get through the last 2 weeks of school and finish this school year in the most organised way. Taking some time out now will save you more time, energy and money when your kid will go back to school in September.

It’s a wonderful chance to use the extra time and to try something new. If you are a non-Muslim, you may even see it as a part-time or mini-sabbatical without losing any income. 29 April – 5 May is screen-free week. When was the last time you’ve enjoyed an entire day screen-free? Probably some time ago. Isn’t it then even more surprising that since 1994 numerous organisations are participating in the TV Turnoff and now the screen-free week? But a week without any screen activities, I hear you say, that’s insane. Bear with me!
As 2018 is coming to an end, many are reflecting on this year and are setting New Year’s resolutions. Being more organised is – as in previous years – one of the top resolutions. Does that surprise you? Not us. After all, being more organised reduces your stress, you waste less food, energy and money and you improve your relationships with your family, friends and at work.
