Focus

Do you focus on your vision?

“Focus on what’s important to you!” That’s my new motto. In recent weeks and months, I’ve had so many things on my plate. Everything required time and efforts from me and at times, I felt like a circus performer juggling 15 little oranges. Despite managing most of the time, I lost my vision and wasn’t focusing anymore. It was almost like auto pilot, just get it done.

It was the same for my work, household chores and sometimes even for my relationships. My birthday fell on the August full moon and, if you believe in astrology, highlights certain areas in your life. I’ve decided it’s time to focus again on what I need and want.

As such, I’m removing negative influences out of my life. This started with food, went to materialistic things before addressing thoughts, feelings, beliefs and finally certain individuals.

Food

I’m focusing on healthier eating. This summer has been tough on me and I didn’t walk or run much. Over the last few months, I also gained a few more pounds than I cared to admit. My body needs to give me decent energy for the various projects I’m involved in and I can control this through better nutrition. For that, I’m looking to overhaul my food intake. It’s been a challenging start (birthday cake doesn’t really help!) but every day is a new start to focus on one step towards better nutrition.

Things

I’m focusing on the things that mean something to me and bring joy. This may remind you of Marie Kondo. While I don’t necessarily follow her approach, I agree with her view. Why keep something if you don’t like it? I’ve thrown out old and unneeded papers. I’m focusing on another decluttering session for this month. This one will be on the guest bedroom and possibly the wardrobe.

Thoughts and beliefs

I’m focusing on my achievements and how far I’ve developed in the last year. Who would have known in August 2015 where I’d be today? I certainly didn’t anticipate it, might have dreamt of it. Seeing the success is a true sign that there’s more in me than my self-limiting beliefs would like to dare to think, forget about acknowledging. I’m still working on removing this harsh views of me, yet, more focus is on my positive me.

Relationships

I’m focusing on who is giving me strength and fun in my circle of friends. A number of my friends are experiencing personal hardship and I’m there for them. That to me is part of being friends and I’m sure we can laugh together in due course. However, friends dragging the other one down or criticising every action is not healthy and I’m distancing myself from these individuals.

These are just some areas where I’ve re-adjusted my focus. Don’t worry! I’m not changing everything and am taking this change in focus slowly to make it last. The momentum built so far is awesome and I know that I’m on the right track for me.

Have you ever changed or re-adjusted your focus? How did you go about it and what motivated you to make these changes? I’d love to read about your experiences. So, type and leave a comment below!

Until next time,
Agni
