Quick organising tips for the festive season

Our top 3 organising tips for the festive season

The festive season is for friends and family! It’s the time of the year when we want to spend more time with our loved ones. While we live in a region where going out is normal, many of us enjoy entertaining at home. Hosting at home can be a lot more relaxing and fun! Don’t let a messy home stand in your way of being with your friends and family this festive season.

Here are our 3 quick organising tips so you can be the hostess with the mostess:

Your entrance

What your guest will see first! Don’t let the array of shoes, bags, sports gear and toys become a parkours for your guests. A shoe cabinet can hide your shoes while a bench can beautifully display one handbag. Keep the others in your closet or in your bedroom. If you do wear a jacket or a coat, keep only 1 or 2 on a hanger or wall hook.

Keep a basket for your kid’s toys so they can easily throw it in when entering the house.

Your living room

Keep your coffee table as empty as possible. This makes it easy for your guests to place their mugs or glasses. By placing a fresh bouquet of flowers, your coffee table can become the centre of attention.

Go through your magazines and throw out the old issues. If there’s an article you want to read, create a reading folder. You tear out the pieces of interest, put them in the reading folder and recycle the rest of the magazine. Your magazine file has been instantly reduced to a fraction.

If your kid plays in the living room, give them a basket where their toys, paper or crayons go. It’s an easy way to take it out when entertaining and teaches your child to find a home for their toys.

Quickly dust the even surfaces, shake up your cushions and place all remotes into one spot, for example, next to the TV. Lightening fragrant candles can give the room a lovely fresh scent. Make sure that you never leave candles or other sources of open fire unattended!

Your guest bath

It’s so often forgotten and yet, your friends and family will use it at some stage. Wipe through the sink and clean the faucet, rubbing it dry to avoid any marks. Quickly spray some window cleaner on the mirror and use a window swiper to clear it. Hang up a new towel, lighten a candle or use a bathroom refresher and you’re finished.

Entertaining during the festive season should be about having fun, not about cleaning your house. This year, reduce your stress with these quick tips and enjoy the time with your loved ones.

Are you ready to host your friends and family this festive season? However you plan to entertain them, we hope you’re having a fabulous time!

Until next time,
Agni
